OrCAD Capture 16.6: Catch Design Issues Quickly with Custom DRC's

November 4, 2013 Team EMA

Have you encountered hanging wires and overlaps with Capture wires and want to be able to find these quickly? With version 16.6, you can easily find these errors throughout your design using the custom DRCs.

In our design, we have multiple wire stubs and overlaps as shown. These could be potential connectivity issues.

By running the Custom DRCs with DRC markers enabled on our design....

… the user can now track down the DRC visually with both the DRC markers or searching with Captures find capabilities.

With custom DRC’s, you can also check other errors like shorted discretes. These custom DRC’s are TCL code that can be modified to make your own customizable DRC’s.
